Connect CaptableAI to Cursor
One-click install, or mcp.json. Once it's connected, ask about your equity in plain language, upload documents, model a round and export the result, all from the same chat.
Click Add to Cursor below, or add "captable-ai": { "url": "https://mcp.captable.ai/mcp" } to ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Click Connect next to the server to sign in, then use it in Agent mode.
What you need
- ✓Cursor installed, on any plan.
- ✓A CaptableAI company where you are an owner or admin.
Set it up
Install with one click
The button above opens Cursor and registers the server for you. Confirm the install when Cursor asks.
Or add it by hand
Open Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP → New MCP Server, or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json directly. Use .cursor/mcp.json inside a repository to share it with your team.
In Tools & MCP, CaptableAI shows as needing a login. Click Connect and finish signing in in your browser.
Use it in Agent mode
Switch the chat to Agent. CaptableAI's tools sit alongside your file and terminal tools, so results can go straight into the repository.
Check it worked
In Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP, the server should show a green dot and a list of tools. In chat, ask “Which CaptableAI tools can you use?”

Troubleshooting
The server shows red or zero tools.
Toggle it off and on in Tools & MCP, then click Connect again. If it still fails, check the JSON is valid and the URL ends in /mcp.
Can I commit .cursor/mcp.json?
Yes. It holds the address only. Each developer signs in with their own CaptableAI account.
Global or project config?
~/.cursor/mcp.json makes CaptableAI available everywhere. .cursor/mcp.json limits it to one repository.
Then: upload your documents
CaptableAI builds your cap table by reading your legal documents. These seven habits keep it fast and accurate. Share them with Cursor.
