Connect CaptableAI to Grok

Custom connectors on grok.com. Once it's connected, ask about your equity in plain language, upload documents, model a round and export the result, all from the same chat.

Short answer

Go to grok.com/connectors, click New Connector → Custom and paste https://mcp.captable.ai/mcp. Sign in to CaptableAI and Grok picks up the tools automatically. Custom connectors need a paid Grok plan.

What you need

  • ✓A paid Grok plan. Custom connectors aren't available on the free tier.
  • ✓On Grok Business or Enterprise, an admin who has provisioned the connector.
  • ✓A CaptableAI company where you are an owner or admin.

Set it up

1

Open Connectors

Go to grok.com/connectors while signed in.

2

Add a custom connector

Click New Connector, select Custom and paste the server URL.

Server URL
https://mcp.captable.ai/mcp
3

Sign in to CaptableAI

Complete the OAuth sign-in. Grok discovers the CaptableAI tools and uses them whenever your question is about your equity.

4

Building on the xAI API?

Developers can attach the same server to a request as a remote MCP tool. Headless use needs a token rather than browser sign-in, so talk to us if you need one.

xAI API request
{
  "tools": [
    {
      "type": "mcp",
      "server_url": "https://mcp.captable.ai/mcp",
      "server_label": "captable-ai"
    }
  ]
}

Check it worked

Ask Grok “Which CaptableAI tools are available?” If it doesn't mention them, check the connector shows as connected at grok.com/connectors.

First things to ask

“Who are my top ten shareholders and what does each hold fully diluted?”
“Model a $6M Series A at a $24M pre-money and show me the new cap table.”
“Which documents are still waiting to be processed?”

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Custom option.

Custom connectors are on Grok's paid plans. On Business or Enterprise, an admin has to provision the connector before members can use it.

Does it work in the Grok mobile apps?

Yes. Connectors you add at grok.com are available in the Grok apps on iOS and Android.

Do I still need the mcp-remote bridge?

No. Grok now connects to remote MCP servers directly, so the URL is all you need.

Then: upload your documents

CaptableAI builds your cap table by reading your legal documents. These seven habits keep it fast and accurate. Share them with Grok.

01 Upload everything first +

Add all of your cap table documents up front, in one batch where possible: incorporation documents, SAFEs, stock and option agreements, board consents. PDF, DOCX, XLSX, DOC and images are supported.

02 Wait for classification +

Each document is read and classified, so the system knows its type and effective date. Don't trigger extraction until every document shows CLASSIFIED.

03 Check the classification dates +

The effective date decides processing order. If one looks wrong, fix it before extraction so the cap table is built in the right sequence.

04 Trigger extraction once +

Extraction doesn't start automatically for agent uploads. Trigger it a single time after everything is classified; the whole queue is picked up.

05 Let the queue run +

Documents are extracted one at a time, earliest first, so later events build on earlier ones. Expect a few minutes per document and don't re-trigger.

06 Validation runs on its own +

When the last document finishes, a company-wide validator checks every extracted object and repairs cross-document issues. There's nothing to trigger.

07 Review, then commit +

When every document reaches PROCESSED, review the drafts and commit. The first commit activates your cap table.
